#VotePH2025: Inquirer Volunteers Campus Roadshow kicks off at NU-Manila

MANILA, Philippines — INQUIRER.net kicked off the campus roadshow for its Inquirer Volunteers initiative on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at National University-Manila.

The roadshow — the first in a series of campus talks on how journalism is evolving in a digital age — focused on social media and its impact on journalism. It was held at the 12th floor Annex Building of National University-Manila, where the INQUIRER.net team was welcomed by NU-Manila professors and journalism, communication, English language, and political science students

The attendees were able to understand how INQUIRER.net uses social media and video to deliver news in a changing landscape.

In her talk, INQUIRER.net Social Media Content Lead Jerah Rivera focused on how social media has “democratized” news and its consequences.

In particular, she looked at the rise in misinformation in the news and what students can do to counter this spread.

Meanwhile, INQUIRER.net Multimedia Producer Danica “Danx” Landicho talked about video and how more and more people are using it to consume news outside the usual formats. Attendees were also treated to a showcase of the video team’s output, from news reports to vertical reels.

After the presentation, the students shared their opinions and raised points during the Q&A session.

INQUIRER.net Campus roadshow

The Inquirer Volunteers Campus Roadshow aims to engage students and other members of the academic community to have a frank discussion on the current and future state of digital journalism in the Philippines, especially during this coming election.

The initiative began in 2016 as the Inquirer Volunteer Corps, an effort in collaboration with schools, organizations, and communities to empower students and citizens to tell their stories on INQUIRER.net.
